Approve work or explain what needs to change

A review should tell the person doing the work whether it meets the request. If it does not, explain what they need to change so they can act on the feedback.

You must be eligible to review the request. General requests require permission to approve reviews; requests addressed to named people depend on that selection. You also need access to the work. Being an approver does not make you an organization admin.

Make a decision

  1. Open Approvals and choose Review queue.
  2. Select Review beside the request.
  3. Read the work and the requester's notes. Test the relevant behavior when the task calls for it.
  4. Under Your Decision, choose Approve or Needs Changes.
  5. For Needs Changes, choose a Reason for Rejection. If you choose Other reason, explain it in Please specify.
  6. Add useful context in Additional Comments.
  7. Select Approve to confirm approval, or Request Changes to send it back.

You do not need to claim an unclaimed request first to submit a decision. If another reviewer has already started it, the app can prevent you from deciding it. A decision settles that review; it is not a vote that every possible reviewer must repeat.

After the decision

Check the saved result. Approval moves the work to the next stage for its type. A request for changes returns it for more work, and the requester can resubmit after addressing the feedback.

If a request is missing from your queue, check whether you were selected to review it and whether another reviewer has already decided it. Your own submitted work is tracked in Sent requests.
