Some work needs another person's check before it is accepted or finished. Project approval settings let you define who needs that check and who makes the decision.
Organization admins and admins of the project can manage these settings.
Set the approval rule
- Open the project and choose Manage.
- Choose People and approvals.
- Find Approvals and the Who needs approval choices.
- Choose Off, Everyone on this project, or Only the people I choose.
- In Approvers for this project, select at least one person if approvals are enabled.
- If you chose individual people, set Needs approval for those people in the table.
- Select Save Approval Settings and read the confirmation.
Explain the effect to the team
For someone covered by the rule, a new item can wait for approval before being accepted. Finishing an item, task, or feature can send it to Needs Review instead of completing it immediately.
The requester tracks that work in Approvals under Sent requests. The approvers use Review queue to approve it or request changes.
These settings belong to this project. They do not change the approval policy of every other project. Project approvers do not require approval for their own work under this rule.
Review the approver list when team membership changes so requests continue to reach the intended people.
