Sometimes you need the whole conversation. Sometimes you just need to know what was decided. Summary and Chat help you start with that question.
Read the summary
- Open a saved session.
- Choose Summary.
- Read Overview for the short explanation and Key Points for the main details.
- Use Copy or Share if you want to take the summary elsewhere.
The summary is created from the transcript. If something sounds wrong, check the transcript and listen to the original audio before relying on it.
Ask about this recording
- Open the session and choose Chat.
- Enter a question in Ask a question.... For example, ask “What did we decide about the next meeting?”
- Select Send message.
- Compare important answers with the transcript.
You can also open Chat with transcripts from Sessions to ask about saved recordings more broadly. Keep your question specific enough that you can recognize whether the answer fits the conversation.
If a summary is unavailable
Open Settings, then Summaries & Chat. Built-In uses the device's available on-device intelligence. Private AI Models offers downloadable alternatives; options that do not fit the device's memory are disabled.
If Summary Unavailable appears with Retry Summary, select Retry Summary after checking your AI setup. You do not need to throw away the recording because its summary did not finish.
