Capture an app and your microphone on Mac

Platforms: Mac

Quick Capture is for a conversation happening in a Mac app. You choose the app and give it a keyboard shortcut, then use that shortcut to start and stop capturing its audio together with your microphone.

Set up a Quick Capture

  1. Open the app whose audio you want to record.
  2. In Perspective Transcribe, open Settings, then Quick Capture.
  3. Under New Quick Capture, choose the app in App. If it is missing, select Refresh Apps.
  4. Activate Shortcut for new Quick Capture and press the keyboard combination you want to assign.
  5. Select Add Quick Capture.
  6. Check that the capture appears under Saved Captures.

Start and stop

Use the assigned shortcut to start. Allow the requested microphone and app-audio recording permissions. Check the Quick Capture status before relying on the recording.

Use the shortcut again to stop, or use the saved capture's stop control. Then open the session in Perspective Transcribe to review the recording and transcript.

Make a short test with both your own voice and sound from the selected app. This helps you check both sides before an important conversation.

If setup is incomplete

Add Quick Capture stays unavailable until you have chosen an app and finished assigning a shortcut. Check the status or error text for the next step. This feature is specific to Mac; it does not provide a way to capture another app's internal audio on iPhone or iPad.
