Listen again, export a transcript, or share audio

Platforms: iPhone, iPad and Mac

You may want to hear the original explanation, send someone the transcript, or keep a copy outside the app. Those are separate choices, and you can choose the one you need.

Listen to the recording

  1. Open a saved session.
  2. Select Play. Select Pause to pause playback.
  3. Use Rewind 15 seconds or Forward 15 seconds to move through the audio.
  4. Use Playback position to choose another point in the recording.

If the audio is not available yet, give the app time to make it available on this device. A transcript appearing in the library does not necessarily mean its audio is already available to play.

Export a transcript

  1. Open the session's options menu, named Session options with VoiceOver.
  2. Choose Export.
  3. Under What to export, choose Transcript.
  4. Choose a Format: Text, Word, PDF, or Markdown.
  5. Turn on Include timestamps if you want available paragraph times included.
  6. Select Export.
  7. On iPhone or iPad, choose a destination in the system share sheet. On Mac, choose a location in Save Export and save the file.

Text is useful when you want just the words. Word gives you a document you can edit. PDF is useful for sharing a fixed layout. Markdown is plain text with formatting markers.

Export the original audio

Follow the same export steps, but choose Audio recording under What to export. This choice appears when the audio is available. The app shows the recording's format; this is not a menu for converting it into a different audio format.

You can also use Share in Transcript or Summary to share their text. Check the content and destination before sending it.
