Transcribe an audio file or an audio link

Platforms: iPhone, iPad and Mac; All Access required

You do not have to record something again just to get a transcript. If you already have the audio, you can bring it into Perspective Transcribe.

Audio import requires Perspective Intelligence All Access.

Import a saved file

  1. Open Sessions.
  2. Select Import audio file. This opens the file picker.
  3. Choose your audio file and confirm the selection in the picker.
  4. Open the new session and check its processing status.
  5. When processing finishes, choose Transcript.

If Import audio file is missing, open Settings, then All Access and check your subscription.

Import from a link

The link needs to point directly to an audio file. A webpage containing a player is not necessarily an audio-file link.

  1. Open the context menu for Import audio file. On iPhone or iPad, touch and hold the control. On Mac, use its context menu.
  2. Choose Import from URL. With VoiceOver, Import from URL is also available as an action on Import audio file.
  3. Enter the direct audio link, beginning with https:// or http://.
  4. Select Download and wait for the file to download and process.

If the import does not work

First, check that the original file plays outside Perspective Transcribe. For a link, check that it downloads the audio itself rather than opening a page that needs a sign-in.

If you can save the audio file locally, try the file-import steps. Keep the original until you have checked the saved recording and transcript.
